St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry is located in Newark, N.J 103 16TH Avenue and serves the homeless and working poor. St. Mary’s shares a special relationship with the people at St. Ann’s. There are many ways in which you can help serve at St. Ann’s:
Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry Services:
Join a team that serves one lunch a month, Monday through Saturday, excluding Fridays. Lunch volunteer hours are 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Fridays are pantry days 9am-1:30 pm on the 3rd, 4th, & 5th Friday’s of the month.
Pick up day-old groceries at supermarkets and bring them to the kitchen Organize a drive for food, toiletries, baby goods, other greatly needed items
St. Ann’s Literacy Program:
Volunteer to read to St. Ann’s children at Saturday reading sessions, 11:15 to1: 3:00 pm, for preschool and school-age children; training is available for interested individuals. Donate children’s or adult books, or organize a book drive. Make a monetary donation to be used toward the purchase of bookshelves, children’s furniture and other supplies for this program
Other Services at St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen:
Lend medical, legal or other expertise/services to clients in need. Be a mentor or sponsor for a social service client. Donate furniture andhouse wares For more information on how you can help, please go to Franciscan Charities.
