The Eucharist constitutes the source and summit of our Faith!
Jesus Christ said: “I am the bread of life. No one who comes to me shall ever be hungry; no one who believes in me shall ever thirst”.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharistic (EMEs) are entrusted with the awesome responsibility of assisting in the distribution of the Holy Eucharist during Mass. EMEs must be examples of Christian living in faith and conduct and they must desire to grow in holiness through this sacrament of unity and love.
Remember that, though many, we are one body because we share one bread and cup. As ministers of Holy Communion, be especially observant of the Lord’s command to love your neighbor as yourself. For when He gave His body as food to His disciples,
He said to them:
Some EMEs also minister to the sick and homebound, in nursing homes or hospitals.
They must be mature adults and are appointed by the pastor and serve for two years based upon Diocese guidelines.
