Over the years, many men and women have chosen to live out their baptismal vocation by professing the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience. They do this by joining a religious congregation, a secular institute, or through private vows. We pray for these people and ask God to bless our Church with others who will dedicate their lives to God’s service. Come join in the celebration of Evening Prayer with Bishop Bootkoski at St. Francis Cathedral, in Metuchen this Sunday, February 7 at 4:00pm. A light reception will follow the celebration. DIOCESAN YOUTH DAY 2010 Diocesan Youth Day is an exciting day of faith, skits, music, presentations, workshops, Sacrament of Reconciliation, Mass with Bishop Bootkoski: open to all 7-12 graders! This month, he will be praying that all scholars and intellectuals will come to know God through their search for truth. The Apostleship of Prayer announced the intentions chosen by the Pope for February. His general intention is: "For all scholars and intellectuals, that by means of sincere search for the truth they may arrive at an understanding of the one true God." The Holy Father also chooses an apostolic intention for each month. In February he will pray: "That the Church, aware of its own missionary identity, may strive to follow Christ faithfully and to proclaim his Gospel to all peoples."
