August 10, 2008 - Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time


He said, "Come." Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught Peter, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" - Mt 14:29-31


RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS

Sacramental Policy: Preparation for the reception of First Eucharist and also for Confirmation involves a two year formation period consisting of grades 1 & 2 for Eucharist and grades 7 & 8 for Confirmation.  

Children who are currently attending Catholic school must attend religious education classes here at St. Mary’s in grade 2 and grade 8 to comply with the diocesan guidelines.


PARISH PICNIC - SAVE THE DATE
Please save the date for St. Mary's-Stony Hill picnic to be held on Sunday, September 28th.  Rain date is October 5th. 


50/50 CASH RAFFLE
Tickets for our 50/50 cash raffle are $20 each and can be purchased by calling the parish office or getting an order form online at www.stmaryswatchung.org .   A book of tickets has been mailed home to all parishioners and we ask that you help your parish by reaching out to family and friends to buy a ticket!!  We appreciate your help in supporting our parish and our programs.  Thank you!

Diocesan Pilgrimage for Vocations
Bishop Bootkoski extends a cordial invitation to the people of our Diocese to join with him on a Diocesan Pilgrimage for Vocations to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC on Saturday, October 18, 2008.  More details will be forthcoming about a parish bus.  In the meantime, mark you calendars.  

Pilgrimage Youth Choir Grades 7-12
You are invited to sing with the Diocesan Pilgrimage Youth Choir at Mass and in concert during the October 18th pilgrimage.  Fall rehearsals will be held at the Pastoral Center, 146 Metlars Lane, Piscataway:

Retrouvaille- A Lifeline for Troubled Marriages

Rutgers Graduates – Join a new support group that has been developed to help support the Catholic students at Rutgers.  Many opportunities exist to assist the 38% of Rutgers students that are Catholic.  Numerous large scale projects are being worked on but our goal is to work directly with the students to promote the Catholic way of life.  Tailgating, Internships, lectures and social events are just a few activities being planned.  Come join us for a fun day at my farm and find out how you can get involved.
